Genesis

Warranted on 16 October 1990 · Consecrated on 26 April 1991

The Consecration of Lodge Ananthapadmanabha took place on 26th April 1991 in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. The shortened English version “Trivandrum” is derived from “Thiru Anantha Puram”, the abode of the Holy Serpent Anantha on whom the presiding deity Sree Padmanabha reclines. Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is one of the famous landmarks in Trivandrum and thus came the name of the Lodge combining “Anantha” and “Padmanabha”.

M.W. Bro. Justice Prakash Narain, the then Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of India, conducted the Consecration ceremony assisted by Grand Officers in the presence of a large gathering of distinguished Masons including R.W. Bro. K. L. Reddy, the then RGM of RGL of Southern India. Lodge Trivandrum No. 168 sponsored Lodge Ananthapadmanabha No. 280.

Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest secular fraternal societies. It is a world-wide organization based on the principle of the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of man. It is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values. It seeks to make good men better and thereby make the world a better place in which to live.

The Grand Lodge of India was consecrated as a Sovereign Grand Lodge with full Masonic jurisdiction over the territories of the Republic of India in November 1961. We have more than 400 Lodges and over 200 other Masonic bodies with a total membership of about 25,000 Freemasons.
